Major: Financial Economics/Spanish Newspaper memories: Writing blogs during quarantine What I’ll miss about high school: Sports teams Any last words: Being a Merrillville Pirate is something unique and special. Being a Pirate goes beyond just the 4 years that are spent at the High School. Being a Pirate starts when you are just a toddler, being brought to Merrillville events. Wearing the purple before even knowing or understanding what it represents. It extends years and years after graduation. When you look back at old pictures. Or attend and support the new generation at a sporting event and dust off the old letterman's jacket. Being a Merrillville Pirate is a big responsibility. Being a Pirate takes days, months, and even years of preparation. Being a Pirate takes blood, sweat, and tears. Being a Pirate is about knowing you are the underdog and taking that as a challenge. It is about knowing everyone is counting you out, but understanding you have an entire band of Pirates standing behind you. Those who will fight alongside you until the end. Being a Merrillville Pirate is taking each result, whether it comes out in our favor, or not, and keeping your head up. Being the most respectful after competitions and going the extra mile to congratulate the victor and thanking those who make your event possible. Being a Merrillville Pirate is not just on the field or court, but also taking on the challenges in the classroom. Striving to be the best there is and taking as many people as possible along with you. Being a Merrillville Pirate is supporting those around you who want the same cause. It is taking pride in your actions and holding the honor everywhere you go.
